Standings / points
HOW ARE POINTS CALCULATED?
In an effort to attract more participation and level the playing field for all members, the new points system will focus on participation and race completion in addition to finishing position (thus giving all participants an improved chance of winning a championship, and likewise encouraging competitive drivers/cars to attend and complete each race). Points will be awarded as follows:
A member will receive one (1) point for a paid event entry.
For each Saturday Qualifying Race and Sunday Flag Race, a member will receive one (1) point for starting a race and one (1) point for finishing a race ('starting' means taking the green flag' and finishing' means taking the checkered flag).
In the Sunday Flag Race, a member finishing in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place within their class will receive 'podium' points: three (3) points for first place, (2) points for second place and one (1) point for third place.
The total number of possible points per class for each event is eight (8).
Determining Class Champion and Overall Club Champion
In the event of a tie at the end of the year, the following criteria will apply, in this order:
1: number of events entered
2: number of races finished
3: number of podium points awarded for Sunday Flag races.
The same criteria will apply in determining the Overall Champion.
Notes: To qualify for class champion and/or overall champion, a minimum of four (4) events is required.
For a driver to qualify for overall champion, there must have been a minimum of four (4) other racers in that driver's class over the course of the calendar year.
